Im August 2022 ist es wieder soweit- es wird getanzt! Flavourama geht in die nächste Runde.
Flavourama is one of the top 3 Hip Hop and House dance events in Europe. Dancers from all around the globe come together to share their knowledge and love for these cultures.Every year since 2009, the festival takes place in Salzburg & Bad Gastein, with different events andperformances throughout nine days. With every edition the festival expands and also for 2022 we have some exciting, new events. 27.8.- 28.8.: CLUB ANALOG X FLAVOURAMA
To round off the first Flavourama Day in Salzburg City, DJs by the Club Analog Collective will provide some fine tunes. Join us in the lovely Vintage Store & Bar called Jetlag and enjoy the chilled atmosphere – see you there!
27.8.- 28.8.: WALKING DANCE CLASS
Location: City Centre of Salzburg. The ‘Flavourama Walking Dance Class’ is a tour to the most beautiful places in the inner city of Salzburg. In cooperation with Salzburg’s blog “Fräulein Flora”, the interactive dance tour is guided by professional Austrian dancers, where participants will have the opportunity to learn basic movements of different Street- & Clubstyle dances, while getting to know Salzburg from a new perspective.
28.8.- 1.9.: FLAVOURAMA INTENSIVE RETREAT BAD GASTEIN
For the third time already, Flavourama is offering its special format of education: a 5-day Intensive Retreat in Bad Gastein, a beautiful valley in the middle of the Austrian Alps. A maximum of 20 people will have the unique opportunity to be part of a very special retreat with a mentorship by two renowned, professional dancers (TBA). Within those five days, the participants will have several dance classes, theory lessons and talks with their mentors. Additionally, there will be group activities like an Alpine Hut Hike, a Yoga Class beneath a waterfall and a Jam night, to get together and share the love for dancing. By the end of the week, a small performance will be developed, which will be performed at the jam night in Hotel Selina in Bad Gastein. There will again be a cooperation with Hotel Selina – details about booking and reservation will be announced in April.
The new format “Flavourama Performatory” will give music and dance artists of street & clubcultures the chance to show their skills in a theatre setting. Selected by Flavourama’s artistic board, a total of six acts, three of music randomly combined with three of dance, will come together to improvise in front of an audience. The focus for the performers will lie on spontaneity of creating in the moment and using the stage as a performative playground to explore their disciplines. At the new format Flavourama Voices, dance opinion leaders from the scene will lead a panel discussion about relevant topics in the Hip Hop and House Dance Culture. With Niki Awandee as a host, you will have the chance to ask questions, take part in the discussion, or simply listen and learn from experts in the field. After the talk, there will be the opportuntiy to get together, listen to music, dance and connect with each other. See you there!
2.9.- 3.9.: VIELKLANG DANCE WALKS
During the music festival ”Vielklang” – happening on the same weekend – live musicians and Flavourama dancers will walk through the inner city of Salzburg, improvising, dancing and making music. It will be an improvised performance happening in public spaces of the city, inviting people of all generations to join the tour.
2.9. FLAVOURAMA NEXT GENERATION BATTLE
For the second time, Flavourama is hosting an All Styles Battle for the young generation of dancers. Kids, Teens and young adults will have the chance to battle and exchange with each other in categories, divided by age. With an internationally renowned line up of judges and DJs, the next generation will get the opportunity to battle for € 200,- of prize money and a ticket to the Flavourama Finals on the 3rd of September! The battle will take place in the beautiful city centre of Salzburg, in public spaces, bringing together the centuries-old town and the young culture of street- and clubstyles. So, invite your friends and see you on the dancefloor!
The preselection of the Flavourama battles (2 vs. 2 Hip Hop, 1 vs. 1 House) will take place on the 2nd of September in the university of Mozarteum Salzburg, the “Solitär”. Dancers will have the chance to show their skills in front of renowned judges, who in the end select the Top 16 of the evening. The selected dancers will compete against each other until a small group of the Top 8 remain, who will battle again the next day, at the “Flavourama Finals”.
With the “Flavourama Finals”, the nine-day long festival will reach its peak. Hundreds of dancers and dance lovers come together to witness the final battles of the best selected and invited dancers. Taking place on the 3rd of September 2022 at SZENE Salzburg, the best 8 teams/dancers picked in the preselection will face the 8 invited battle guests from each category. In the evening long event, Hip Hop and House dancers from all around the globe compete against each other, celebrate the culture, connect with each other and inspire everyone around them. Whoever takes the win in the end, it is an event for everyone to share, connect and dance without boundaries and oppression.
Right after the Flavourama Finals we will have the chance to dance together at SZENE Lokal, which is right in front of the battle venue.
On Saturday, the day of the “Flavourama Finals” there will be a broad offer of workshops in different styles from renowned dancers as well as from the judges of Flavourama. The workshops will take place at Sportunion Salzburg, Ulrike-Gschwandtner-Str. 6, 5020 Salzburg. Timetable TBA
