Atelier Galerie Peger

As ATELIER it is a workplace, a space for creativity, a place of encounter and communication in matters of art. As a GALLERY it is a space for paintings, sculptures and exhibitions; for art lovers of all ages there are painting seminars on various artistic techniques. Further offers include drawing in Salzburg's old town and drawing models.

The GALERIE PEGER focuses on contemporary art, in particular pictures of the city of Salzburg, figures, people and animals, fairy tales, nude drawings, sculptures made of wood or old iron. There are also several children's books and picture books available.  Furthermore there are beautiful postcards with drawings and painted pictures of the city of Salzburg, of cats and elephants as well as prints of the city of Salzburg (3 versions in the format 30x70 cm).

Peter Gerl is a painter, illustrator, sculptor and mathematician. He has been the director of GALERIE PEGER since 2010 and also uses it as a studio and exhibition space.

Dr. Anton Gugg wrote in 1998: "Peter Gerl allows himself to be inspired entirely in the tradition of early modernism by exoticism and archaism. Longer stays in Africa and Asia leave dark - mystical traces in s drawings and watercolors and form the basis of an extremely subtle, poetic pictorial language. Peter Gerl is undoubtedly one of the most subtle of Salzburg's poets.

Currently there is an exhibition with new Salzburg paintings by Peter Gerl.

His buildings are linear, drawn with ink and reed pen or painted in strong colours like fireworks; these contrasts create dynamics. Gerl's special stroke creates liveliness and gives an idea of how a desert of lines and spots of colour suddenly becomes an oasis of "city".
