CANCELED! aspekte Festival

Due to the current Corona situation, this event has been canceled!

aspekte is one of the oldest festivals for new music in Austria: more than 40 years of innovation and encounter with the new at a high level of interpretation as a contemporary counterpoint in a traditional music city.
The international exchange, the consideration of interdisciplinary development of the arts, the presentation of not yet established concepts from all over the world, all of this can be found in the programs of the festival. The association aspekteSALZBURG is positioned as a competence center for contemporary music, firmly anchored in the new music scene and has contributed highly to making new music known and experienceable.

At the same time, the biennial festival has always remained strongly rooted in the region, integrating local cultural players within the framework of various collaborations, presenting, positioning and promoting Austrian composers and interpreters of new music in an environment of internationally renowned protagonists of contemporary music.

Johannes Maria Staud is composer in residence 2020. He is one of the most successful Austrian composers of the middle generation. In the fall of 2018, the Vienna-based composer has begun teaching as a professor of composition at the Mozarteum University. He is now to be given an aspekteFOCUS that illuminates the different facets of his works. In addition to chamber and ensemble works, "Oskar (Towards a Brighter Hue II)" for violin, string orchestra and percussion will be staged.
