Trio Paier Valcic Preinfalk (AT)

Entering the realm of improvised music as a classical cellist with jazz rock classics is brave. The radio.string.quartet.vienna, co-founded by Asja Valcic in 2004, ventured into songs by Weather Report and John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra. Much newer is her trio with Gerald Preinfalk (Klangforum Wien, among others), who plays soprano sax, clarinet and bass clarinet, and accordionist Klaus Paier, who occasionally takes up the bandoneon. She has had a duo with the latter for 15 years, and at the festival she is visiting us with one in which Raphael Preuschl plays his bass ukulele (see there).
