Art medicine - " broken" does not exist
Cracks, breaks, holes, kinks - for restorers there is no such thing as "broken". With a steady hand, cool head and inventive spirit, each object is looked after according to its needs. Often called the "medicine of art", it is the task of restoration to help art of any kind to outlast generations. Restorer Marcella Steinbichler talks about her daily work.
MUSEUM OF MODERN SALZBURG/MÖNCHSBERG
The Museum der Moderne Salzburg stands for the lively mediation of modern and contemporary art. But the collection, which comprises some 55,000 works, also needs to be cared for and managed. The exhibition Wilhelm Thöny. Dreaming in Difficult Times shows around 300 works from the collection and provides an insight into Wilhelm Toeny's work, which is of interest to contemporary history. Before the exhibition began, a great deal of detailed work was carried out on the works of art, which often remains hidden from museum visitors.
