Markets in the Altstadt of Salzburg

Quality, conversation, and joie de vivre.

Crooked is chic! Gone are the days when consumers judged the quality of goods solely by their appearance. Organic is in. So keep it crooked, because organic products are beautiful, but not always symmetrical. Organic is exciting. Healthy. And delicious. All of this is what makes our markets in the Altstadt of Salzburg so special, where genuine organic products are offered by regional farmers. Every scratch, which we love so much, is free of charge.

Grünmarkt

Since 1857, the Grünmarkt has been a genuine Salzburg jewel. Here you will find fresh, regional and above all healthy food such as fruit and vegetables. Specialties such as fresh meat and spirits are also available. A little tip: Order a "Frische" at one of the sausage stands.

WHERE: Universitätsplatz
DAY: daily except Sundays and public holidays
TIME: MON - FRI 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., SAT 6 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Biomarkt

As the name implies, you will find everything the organic heart desires at the stands on Kajetanerplatz. Organic butchers, organic cheese dairies, organic bakeries, organic fruit, organic vegetables, organic drinks and much more guarantee a healthy and delicious lifestyle.

WHERE: Kajetanerplatz
DAY: every Friday
TIME: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Schranne

A weekly market for regional products. That's a good way to describe the Schranne market. Farmers from Salzburg and its surroundings have been offering their fresh produce here since 1906. The Schranne market is popular among Salzburgers and is a traditional staple of the city.

WHERE: around St. Andrew's Church (Andräkirche)
DAY: every Thursday
TIME: 5 a.m. - 1 p.m.

If Thursday happens to be on a public holiday, the Schranne market takes place on Wednesday.
