DomQuartier

DomQuartier

Even the prince archbishops celebrated lavish parties in the residence.

Even the prince archbishops celebrated lavish parties in the residence. Events of all kinds were the order of the day in their day. The state rooms are thus perfectly suited for musical performances. The dialogue between sound, words and space, between the past and the presence, creates a captivating visual and auditory experience.

With the state rooms of the Residenz and the cathedral area, the DomQuartier Salzburg also includes important historical venues for secular and spiritual music. Here, Salzburg's cultural significance as a city of music with an international orientation and centuries of glorious tradition is manifested. The court musicians of the prince archbishops, among them Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Georg Muffat, father and son Mozart or Michael Haydn, composed for these premises and also performed music here themselves. The first opera performance north of the Alps took place in the Carabinieri Hall.
