Jazzorchester Vorarlberg (AT)

A dozen or so musicians who deliberately do not call themselves a big band: The Jazz Orchestra Vorarlberg (JOV), which has existed since 2005, prefers to perform commissioned compositions far from the clichéd performances of the great swing formations. This time around the focus is on compositions by the Viennese clarinet player Vincent Pongracz, about whom the co-leader and trumpeter Martin Eberle says that he "knows very well how to combine the most diverse styles of music and to make complicated grooves and bizarre melodies sound down to earth. This will turn out to be a really fat groove act, especially in combination with the R'n'B singer Renee Benson aka Sista Raie."

Sista Raie - vocals | Vincent Pongracz - reeds, composition | Jürgen Heider - reeds | Martin Franz - reeds |  Klaus Peter - reeds | Martin Eberle - trumpet | Markus Pechmann - trumpet | Jan Ströhle - trombone | Phil Yaeger - trombone | Thomas Halfer - trombone | Christoph Ellensohn - frenchhorn | Benny Omerzell - rhythm | Peter Rom - rhythm | Manuel Mayr - rhythm | Christian Eberle - rhythm
