Louise Jallu Quartet

Louise Jallu: bandoneon | Grégoire Letouvet: piano and keys | Karsten Hochapfel: guitar | Alexandre Perrot: double bass

The young French musician Louise Jallu has made a name for herself as a specialist in recent years. Jallu started playing the bandoneon when she was five. The accordion which is usually as least as popular in her home country, never really appealed to her. The bandoneon is inseparable from tango which, as one would expect, also serves as her musical basis along with an openness for improvisation. The resulting proximity to jazz can also be seen in her most important teacher, the Argentinean Juan Jose Mosalini. As a woman as well as a musician, Jallu brings a breath of fresh air to this largely male dominated genre and is currently taking stages by storm with her quartet and headstrong piazzolla repertoire.
