Suonno d'Ajere

Irene Scarpato: vocal | Gian Marco Libeccio: guitar | Marcello Smigliante Gentile: mandoline and mandocello

Since 2016 three young musicians from Naples have been pursuing a “Traum vom Gestern” (A dream of yesterday). The band name Suonno d´Ajere (named after a famous album by Pino Daniele) incorporates the trained opera as well as jazz singer and holder of numerous awards Irene Scarpato, the classic guitarist Gian Marco Libeccio who was also taught by jazz musician Peter Bernstein and Marcello Smigliante Gentile on the mandolin and mandocello. Together they have dedicated themselves to the research and contemporary reworking of Neapolitan songs of the 17th century to the present day. “A legacy that must be celebrated,” is what they say about the folk music Canzoni which they enrich accordingly with everything that brings them to life.
