The Lederer Guild

Exclusive insights into the craft of the leather worker: in the frescoed room from 1650 on the first floor, where traditional guild meetings of the leather workers were held in former times, you can visit the 400-year-old guild chest. In addition, various types of leather are presented and the manufacture of various leather utensils is shown by means of sample leather.

LEATHER HOUSE SCHLIESSELBERGER

In 1422, the house at Lederergasse 5, which is now a listed building, became the centre of leather processing and is thus one of the oldest buildings in Austria, which is home to a craft throughout. Moritz Schliesselberger is the sixth generation of the family to run the renowned family business. Besides the classical repertoire of luggage, handbags and small leather goods, rarities such as: editions for desks, leather leftovers for hobbyists and tinkerers, furs and skins, accessories for shoemakers' needs as well as Salzburg's largest selection of shoe and leather straps.
