Almut Schlichting: saxophone

The 45-year-old baritone saxophonist Almut Schlichting from Lower Saxony has been a well-known figure on the Berlin jazz scene both as musician as well as with her own label Tiger Moon Records since the late nineties. Already with her quintet Shoot The Moon, founded in 1997, her "home port"; then as a member of the crossover groups Garagenoper Kollektiv and Le Sorelle Blu, where she has been pushing her interest in interdisciplinary collaboration with authors, theater makers and dancers since 2009. Since 2016, Schlichting has returned to jazz - now exclusively on baritone saxophone. Currently in the duo Subsystem, in the quartet Bauhauskapellentraum and in the trio Insomnia Brass Band, which recently won the German Jazz Prize.
